2004 Sketchbook

In this sketch book I started to realised I could draw very realistic animals. I was surprised by my own ability without practising it at all. I guess it's because every time I see an object my conscious  mind automatically analyse the images on how to draw a certain part of it object without actually practising.

Water Dragon

Drawn on 18th Jan,2004

Pencil on A5 sketchbook

I always enjoy drawing dragons, and I do not need to think how they would go under my pen as they are form-shifters. There is no restriction of drawing them as long as their spirit can be captured. This dragon was in a cave where a river stream goes through it, it emerge from water and solidified.

Strangers

Drawn on 3rd Feb,2004

Drawn from memory, I think I have seen those emo-looking people walking in the streets before. Not sure if they were from my dreams or they really exists. The waitress on the left has really pale skin while the old lady on the right wear baggy hip hop clothes. They all look pale like vampires with weird characters.

Eagle Head

Drawn on 2H-6H Pencil.

From this page I started to copy photo images from National Geographic and observe in detail the animal structures. I paid a lot of attention on getting the spirit of the animal by capturing the eyes, the muscle movements, the wing and feather structure. Also their skin texture varies and some are difficult to present it realistically.

Yoho!~

Drawn on 16th July, 2004

I realised the body movement of a reindeer is similar to a cat.

Flying Eagle

Drawn on 16th July,2004

Drawn in Pencil and refillable pencil.

The details of the claws and beak need refillable pencil to draw them.

Dog & it's master

Drawn on 18th July,2004

The image was a copy from National Geographic. The young girl was leaning on her pet dog. I didn't finished her face and gave up completing this drawing.

Goat Head

Drawn on 23rd July,2004

I had been drawing animals a lot and I wanted to draw a different material---vehicles, which I found much more challenging to draw for it's reflective texture and seamless form are not easy to "cover up" with fur and feathers once the mistakes occurred.

Dragon Bird

Drawn on 19th July, 2004

I drew this before Harry Potter's Griffin became famous, so definitely not some idea came from Potter!! Plus that thing doesn't have cat paws. Instead I was trying to put dragon's feet on it, that's why I called it a Dragon Bird.

Spider

Drawn on 23th July, 2004

The study of spider legs and body movement. A bicycle at the background was also another subject that I would want to study.
