Dragon and Phenix

Date Created: 14th Jan, 2009

Materials: Pencil layout, Acrylic paint and Glitter on canvas

This pair of painting was a commissioned work being sold to a friend. She asked me to draw something for her friend's birthday and I came up with this pair of mythical creatures in Chinese culture which represent joy and good fortune.

The dragon is falling down and about to fly up again while the phoenix is about to fall down.

The pair seems to be dancing together in a harmonious circle.

I really enjoy looking at the Phoenix's smile and the spin of the dragon. Usually you can see the pair in a Chinese wedding as the dragon represents the male while the phoenix represents the female.
