Escape

Sept, 2009

Charcoal on Graphite Paper

Created in Mississauga, Canada

From a 2D drawing to physical activity, this art work guides the viewer from imagination into action.

This art piece was created based on a topic given by our instructor.

The bear and the clown are escaping from the circus. Both are running into the forest and back to the wild.

When the drawing was presented in on the wall, there was a small mirror hanging right beside it. The main charachers were walking towards it. The viewer would be guided to look into the mirror and see a reflection from the opposite wall, where a photo of an atomic bomb was placed on it. When the viewer approached the photo, they would notice a sign saying: "Now you can turn around." From this distance the black and white forest of this drawing would transform into shades of atomic cloud, which is what the viewer is "escaping" from.
