Music Puzzle Concert 2015

Graphic and website design for a musician friend who held a personal concert in Sept, 2015.

The poster and website design took 2 months to complete.

Due to her change of programme, the website could not be completed until her final stage to settle the programme.

The original plan was to make a poster with a mild feeling, but it changed into something related to "Urban VS Rural".

I originally thought of a jazz theme with all the musicians' silhouette playing their instruments.

The website is colorful and animated.

Please continue to view the design process and see how the theme has been changed several times.

This is the innitial design when she first gave me the title Music Puzzle.

She hasn't got a clear idea of what she wants and she would need to compose more music before she know what the theme would be.

The colors are too bright and it felt like red pockers from Chinese New Year.

We tone down the colors and readjust the text's location.

Her innitial concept about it is a mix of various styles of music blend between Chinese and Western instruments.

But the above poster looks like some religioious promotion poster more than a concert poster.

As her ideas continue to develop, I have a clearer picture of what she preferred.

I decided to add more character to the poster to give it more vibe.

Innitially, my client loves this poster. It is very lively and gives the idea of what a concert should be. Please click on above image for the website.

Please note that due to copyright issues , I took away all musicians' names, photos and sponsors' logos.

But after a while she expressed concern over the clarity of the text, due to the mix of similar colours. She eventually preferred a simple and calm atmosphere and most of the characters are taken away from the poster (see below).

Even though I personally favoured the previous one, she preferred this version.

Well, she's the boss. So I just followed her instructions.

Please click on the above image to visit the website.

Note again that I took away all text and logo on this poster due to copyright issues.
