2003 Watercolour Paintings

The following watercolour paintings are created during my studies in Mr Lau's studio class.

Chinese Food

Created on 15th March, 2003

A life sketch drawing of a dim sum cage, shrimp, traditional Chinese medical sweets and a Chinese cabbage on a table cloth.

Cyclist

Created on 31st May, 2003

A colour pencil copy of a photograph from the news paper, combined with watercolour in the background and dry brushes touching up the foreground.

Mong Kok Night Market (旺角夜景)

Created on 6th June, 2003

Pencil and watercolour on canvas. This view has drawn inspiration from the street near where I live. I paint this at home and was using this to join a Hong Kong trourisum promote campaign. I felt that the crowded night scene is very alive and represents of Hong Kong's identity. But after showing Mr Lau his comments were not as appreciative. He thought this was just one side of Hong Kong's culture and not enough to show the varieties and ever changing lifestyle of Hong Kong. In the end he didn't chose this painting so I just keep it for my own admiration.

Rock Climbing

Created on 5th July, 2003

A full watercolour painting using dry and wet brushes to create the various materials of the scenery.
