Womanizer

Painted on March, 2009

Acrylic paint on canvas.

This is an assignment during university in which that our instructor asked us to choose 3 words and create something out of it.

I came up with ï»¿this fairy tale about a married man, his wife, his ex-girl friend and his new mistress.

Analysis of the Womanizer

The position of the characters show their importance and relationship to this man.

The wife has the most power but she's the most isolated in the positioning, while the mistress seems more important and easy to approach.

The man with the spidery body represents his sneaky and dishonourable character.

He transformed into a charming human being when approaching others but in reality he's a monster.

The wife is located at the top left corner has long hair just like Rapunzel. Their linked body parts, the hair and spider silk, indicated their linkage of marriage.

Confined to her tower, she sadly watched her lover approaching others when she couldn't do anything about it.

The ex-girl friend is a jealous mad woman with red hair trying to cut their linkage with a pair of scissors. She seems to be able to see the whole picture and tried to stop the spider from returning to his home as well as reveling his true identity to the enchanted new mistress.

The current mistress is the focal point of the whole painting. They are meeting up at the back of her house where the car parked and the garage lights still on.

The red colour of her dress indicates that she is not innocent and that she might be sneaking out to meet this womanizer.
